Drawstring Bag Size Calculator : Perfect Bag Dimensions Guide
The Drawstring Bag Size Calculator helps you determine the ideal size for your drawstring bag. How do you calculate the size of a drawstring bag? How do you choose the right size for a drawstring bag? What size drawstring bag do I need? What dimensions will perfectly accommodate my product? Below, we provide three methods to calculate the dimensions of a drawstring bag. You can use these calculations as a reference for purchasing or crafting your drawstring bags, or you may also order directly from us.
Drawstring Bag Size Calculator for Cubic Items
This calculator is designed to determine the minimum size of a drawstring bag needed to contain cubic or near-cubic items. You will need to measure the dimensions of the cubic item you wish to store, as illustrated, and input these measurements into the calculator according to your actual packing orientation.

Results:
- The measurement from the top to the seam below the drawstring is for convenience, as drawstring bags typically have a seam below the drawstring. The actual measurement is the distance from the top to the area below where items are placed once the drawstring is tightened.
- The distance from the top of the drawstring bag to the stitching below the drawstring varies by bag style, usually measuring 5 cm (2 inches). Please consult the supplier or refer to the drawings to fill in the actual conditions; otherwise, the bag height may be insufficient.
- Some drawstring bags have a “drawstring at the top” design. The distance from the top to the drawstring stitching is usually 1 cm (3/8 inch), but you should adjust according to your actual measurements.
- The calculated dimensions represent the minimum size needed to fit your items. To ensure a proper fit, increase the actual dimensions by about 10%. You may round up to a size that is more convenient for production or procurement.
Drawstring Bag Size Calculator for Irregular Items
This calculator is intended for determining the minimum size of a drawstring bag necessary for irregularly shaped items. You will need to measure the dimensions of your irregular item as illustrated and input these measurements into the calculator based on your actual packing situation.

Results:
- The circumference at the widest point of the object can be measured using a soft tape or rope. You need to measure the maximum horizontal circumference when the object is placed inside.

Measuring the Actual Size of a Drawstring Bag Using Larger Bags
You can determine the size of a drawstring bag through practical testing. First, gather the items you want to pack, a noticeably larger PP bag (or similar), scissors, and a ruler.
- Place the items inside the PP bag.
- Lift the PP bag and gently shake it to move the items to the corners.
- Stand the empty part of the PP bag upright. Fold it towards the items to create a vertical crease that is symmetrical.
- Hold the top of the PP bag to form a drawstring shape. Tighten it as much as possible. Cut off any excess height above the drawstring, but keep the desired height from the top to the drawstring seam.
- Remove the items from the PP bag. Lay the PP bag flat and measure the distance from the edge to the crease on the side where the items were. This is the minimum width needed for the drawstring bag. Then, measure the remaining height of the PP bag; this will be the minimum height required for the drawstring bag.
