Screen printing is a practical and widely used printing method that can be applied to various substrates, making it an ideal choice for packaging products. With its unique features, screen printing has multiple advantages that can enhance the visual appeal of packaging products and make them stand out on store shelves.
Advantages of Screen Printing
Screen printing has the advantage of gentle printing pressure and flexible plates. The plate is soft and elastic, allowing for lower pressure. This means that it can be used on fragile substrates such as paper and textiles, as well as objects that are easily damaged by pressure, such as glass and ceramics.
Ink can form a thick layer of up to 30-100μm, with strong coverage that can print pure white on black paper. The thick layer also creates a three-dimensional effect that other methods cannot achieve. A wide range of inks can be used, including paste, plastic, paint, adhesive, and solid powder. Therefore, ink is sometimes referred to as “printing materials.”
Ink has high resistance to fading, even when exposed to sunlight for long periods of time, making it an ideal choice for products that require long-term transportation and storage.
Benefits of Screen Printing for Packaging Products
Screen printing is a highly advantageous technique for packaging products, and at our company, we specialize in utilizing this method to enhance the visual appeal of our gift bags, shopping bags, and cosmetic bags. It can be applied to a diverse range of materials such as cotton canvas, linen, leather, organza, satin, PVC, and PP. By customizing the design, color, and logo, we can create bespoke and captivating packaging solutions that help our customers stand out in a competitive market.
Versatility of Screen Printing
The versatility of screen printing is one of its greatest advantages. It can be applied to all of our products, regardless of their size, shape, or material. This allows us to customize our packaging solutions to meet the specific needs of our customers, such as custom logos, colors, and designs. By offering tailored packaging solutions, we differentiate ourselves from competitors who offer more generic options.
Screen Printing Workflow
The screen printing workflow is relatively simple, but it is important to note that different substrates and inks require different printing parameters and processing methods. Therefore, before printing, thorough testing and debugging of the substrate and ink are necessary to ensure that the printing effect meets the requirements.
1. Preparation: First, prepare the printing machine, screen, ink, scraper, substrate, and other tools and materials. Then stretch the screen on the printing machine and make the desired printing pattern into a template.
2. Apply photosensitive glue: Apply photosensitive glue on the screen, then place the template on the photosensitive glue and expose it to ultraviolet light for a period of time to solidify the photosensitive glue outside the template pattern.
3. Wash the screen: Put the screen in water and wash it with a high-pressure water gun to remove the unsolidified photosensitive glue, leaving only the solidified pattern outside the template.
4. Apply ink: Apply ink to the screen, then use a scraper to flatten the ink and print it on the substrate through the mesh of the screen.
5. Drying: Place the printed substrate in a ventilated and dry place to allow the ink to dry and solidify.
6. Cleaning: Clean the screen and scraper for the next use.
We offer customized packaging solutions, and screen printing can be customized to meet the specific needs of our customers. For example, we can create custom logos, colors, and designs for gift bags, shopping bags, and cosmetic bags. This helps to differentiate our customers’ products from competitors who offer more generic packaging solutions.
